Listening to the radio this morning announcing the arrival of the ‘Curiosity’ probe on Mars reminded me how much I love that word and what a terrific trait this is in business.
The ability to take an interest in others, to gently probe in order to gather useful intelligence is one of THE most powerful skills for business people, particularly when networking. There’s great material all around us, opportunities around every corner – but too often we’re focused on ourselves, and on short-term outcomes. It blinds us to what’s in the room (and beyond).
If we can take Curiosity to Mars, surely we can bring it with us whenever we network?
